For the last 15 years my boyfriend was sleepless in the night of the 15th of May and there is no chance that this will change in the future. Wondering why this night of all nights? The reason is that after more than a 7-month-long winter break the fishing season starts again and all he can think about is stalking those silvery iridescent spotted beauties with all kind of colourful lures.

A good catch always causes an euphoric mood but also some concerns about the way to cook the fishes. This simple recipe does justise to the beautiful trouts and sends the cook and fisher and also me into raptures.

Forelle mit Gartengemüse

2 Forellen je ca. 400 g
2 Möhren
4 Kartoffeln
1 Zwiebel
4 kleine Tomaten
4 Knoblauchzehen
3 EL Olivenöl
100 ml Weißwein
Salz
Pfeffer

Streifen schneiden.

2 trouts, 400 g each
2 carrots
4 potatoes
1 onion
4 small tomatoes
4 cloves of garlic
3 tbsp olive oil
100 ml white wine
salt
pepper
herbs to tast

Clean the trouts and put some salt, pepper and herbs on the insides. Peel potatoes and carrots and cut into thin slices. Peel the onion and cut into thin rings. Wash and cut the tomatoes. Put the fishes and the vegetables into a big oiled ovenproof dish and pour the rest of the olive oil and the wine on top. Add salt, pepper and herbs to taste. Put a lid on your dish or cover it with aluminium foil and bake in a preheated oven at the temperature of 180° C. That's the way it looks before you put it into the oven:

just one hour later you can enjoy with a glass of wine and a piece of French bread, that you can dip into the sauce.
